Standard English Conventions
Last updated October 26, 2026
Standard English Conventions covers two question types, Boundaries and Form, Structure, and Sense. A sentence has a blank and four ways to fill it. Only one is correct Standard English. It belongs to the Standard English Conventions domain of the Digital SAT Reading and Writing section.
How to approach these questions
- KNOW THE GRAMMATICAL CONCEPT behind each question, and behind every option choice, before you move on.
- DON'T PREDICT. If you know, you will know. When you don't, that is when you are predicting.
The habit that ruins students on it
Students predict: they pick the choice that looks right without knowing the concept that makes it right.
