3. How we use it
- To run your account and give you the features of your plan.
- To suggest practice questions from your earlier answers, to coach you, and to show you your progress.
- If you are a student in a KV EDU course, so that your teacher can follow your work and your study time, read the explanations you give the coach, and write progress reports for your parents.
- If you are a student in a KV EDU course and your teacher asks for it, to have Kevyn AI write an assessment of the explanations you gave the coach, scored against your teacher’s rubric, for your teacher to read.
- To send you messages about the service, such as a password reset.
- To keep Kevyn AI secure, to prevent abuse and to enforce our Terms of Service.
- To improve Kevyn AI, for example by seeing which questions students find hardest.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it for others’ advertising.
No automated decisions about you. No decision that affects you in a legal or similarly significant way is made by AI or by other automated means. The AI coach gives study feedback to you, and your practice scores are counted from your answers against the answer key. An assessment written for a KV EDU teacher is feedback for that teacher to read and check; any decision about a student’s course is made by the teacher.
Legal bases (for users in the EU, the UK and similar places)
The table in section 2 gives the legal basis for each kind of information. In short, we process your information to perform our agreement with you, in our legitimate interest in running and improving a safe service, to comply with the law, and, where we ask for it, with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the following, and only as far as each one needs:
- Hosting and database providers that store and serve Kevyn AI on our behalf: Vercel (hosting) and Supabase (database and sign-in).
- Our AI provider, Anthropic, which receives what you write to the coach and the question you are working on, so that it can produce a reply, and, when a KV EDU teacher asks for an assessment, the explanations being assessed, with the questions and the coach’s replies they belong to. Anthropic states that, by default, it does not use this kind of business data to train its models.
- An email delivery service that sends messages such as password resets.
- Dodo Payments, our online reseller and Merchant of Record, which sells our paid plans and handles payments, invoices, sales tax, refunds and fraud checks. Dodo Payments collects the details it needs at checkout, such as the payer’s name, email address, country and payment details, and uses them under its own Privacy Policy. Dodo Payments shares with us the details listed under Payments in section 2, so that we can open and manage your plan.
- Professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers, when we need their advice.
- Your KV EDU teacher, if you joined through a KV EDU course, who can see your study record, including your study time, your conversations with the coach and any assessment of your explanations, and through them your parents, who may receive progress reports.
- Authorities, when the law requires us to, or to protect the safety of a person.
Our service providers may use your information only to provide their services to us; Dodo Payments also uses the details it collects at checkout under its own Privacy Policy, as described above. Fonts on the site are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google’s servers when a page loads.
5. Where it is processed
Kevyn AI is run from Korea, and our providers store and process information in other countries, including the United States. When information leaves the country where you live, we rely on the safeguards the law requires, such as our providers’ contractual commitments.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account is open. That covers the study time, coach conversations and assessments kept for a KV EDU student. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal information within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it longer. Server logs are kept only for a short period by our hosting provider. Records of payments and contracts, for instance, must be kept for five years under the law of Korea, where KV EDU is registered. We may keep information that has been made anonymous, so that it can no longer identify you.
7. Children
Kevyn AI is for students aged 14 and over. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must agree to our terms for you. If we learn that we hold information about a child under 14, we will delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- see the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct information that is wrong;
- have your information deleted;
- restrict some uses of it, or object to uses based on our legitimate interest;
- take your information to another service;
- withdraw consent you have given.
To use any of these rights, email support@kevynai.com from the address on your account. A parent or guardian may make a request for a child. We will answer within one month where the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies, and otherwise within the time the law requires. You may also complain to your local data protection authority, or to the Personal Information Protection Commission of Korea, where KV EDU is registered.
9. Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to keep the site secure. We do not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies.
10. Security
Information travels to and from Kevyn AI encrypted. Our database refuses direct access from browsers, and only our own server can read it. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you do not use anywhere else. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.
11. Changes
We will update this policy when what we collect or how we use it changes. When a change is significant, we will tell you on the site or by email before it takes effect.
